Xiaomi Mix Flip Challenges Samsung Z Flip 6: Will It Steal the Spotlight?

The Xiaomi Mix Flip, a new entrant into the foldable smartphone arena, has finally extended its reach from an exclusive launch in China to now being available across the UK, Europe, and various international markets.

Xiaomi introduced this phone unexpectedly during their announcement of the latest midrange releases, the camera-centric Xiaomi 14T and Xiaomi 14T Pro. This surprise addition to the event sparked much conversation among tech enthusiasts and Xiaomi fans alike.

Mimicking the clamshell style that has become synonymous with foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Motorola Razr Plus, the Mix Flip features a compact 4.01-inch outer display. It covers a significant portion of the phone’s surface, harmoniously integrating with the dual rear cameras much like the design seen in the Motorola Razr Plus 2024.

Adding a playful touch, the cover screen is home to interactive wallpapers, featuring animated pets, and it allows users customization through apps and widgets. Its main display, when unfolded, boasts a 6.8-inch screen slightly surpassing an iPhone 16 Plus in size. It offers crisp visuals with a resolution of 2912 x 1224, an adaptive refresh rate extending up to 120Hz, and a stunning peak brightness reaching 3000 nits.

The phone's internal specs are equally impressive with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, it's equipped with an octa-core CPU, Qualcomm Adreno GPU, and a dedicated AI Engine ensuring smooth performance for advanced applications.

For photography aficionados, the Mix Flip's camera setup partnered with Leica presents a 50MP main camera along with a 50MP telephoto lens. The capabilities extend to recording 8K videos at 24fps and 4K at 60fps. The cover screen allows the rear cameras to be used for selfies, while a 32MP front camera provides additional options for personal capturing, capable of 4K recording at 30fps.

The device is equipped with a 4,780mAh battery, supporting quick charging up to 67W, although it omits wireless charging capabilities.

Not yet accessible in the United States, the Mix Flip is priced competitively in the UK at £1,099. The excitement surrounding its international debut raises expectations, with comparisons drawn against similar foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, which starts at $1,099.99 / £1,049 / AU$1,799. Xiaomi enthusiasts eagerly await to see if this device will earn a spot among the best foldable phones, aligning with Xiaomi's tradition of innovation.
