In danger! Three Anker battery models are being urgently recalled!
Anker is renowned for producing some of the most reliable portable chargers on the market, but recently they've been facing challenges regarding manufacturing quality. A new safety recall has been issued for three of their smartphone backup batteries due to potential defects.
In June, Anker announced the recall of the 321 Power Bank, Soundcore A3102 speaker, and A3302 speakerphone due to fire hazards linked to faulty lithium-ion batteries. According to reports, Anker has issued another recall for a different set of power pack models.
The affected models now include the Anker 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K), Anker Power Bank, and Anker MagGo Power Bank. The company has indicated that, although the issue affects a limited number of units produced between January 3 and September 17, they are reaching out to all customers to initiate a recall process.
This recall is being conducted because these batteries could potentially pose a fire hazard due to a defect that causes overheating. To identify if your device is affected, check the base for model numbers A1642, A1647, or A1652. Should your battery fall into this category, Anker provides a set of instructions on their website for a safe resolution.
In addition to halting use immediately, Anker advises storing the power bank in a secure place and not disposing of it in regular trash. An online recall form is available for users to begin the replacement process. Specific guidelines for safe disposal are also provided, depending on regional regulations.
Additional Considerations
The recall itself shouldn’t cause panic for other Anker product owners. The company has reassured users that this issue stems from a previous supplier, and they have since changed vendors and are enhancing their quality checks. Confidence can thus be maintained in remaining Anker products, as there have been no issues reported with models featured in our best power banks guide.
This situation serves as a reminder that even reputable brands can face quality challenges. For those considering alternatives, brands such as Baseus, Satechi, or Belkin also offer excellent portable charging solutions.
We recommend staying informed of any updates from manufacturers concerning product recalls and making safety your priority. Always refer to official resources for guidance if ever in doubt about the products you use.
